GC using someone else's license #

Hi, I'm finalizing a contract with a General Contractor and he has provided me with a license #. Upon checking the license # in the DoB database the name of another individual and a diff company comes up. My guy says he's also partners in that company and that I can feel free to change the company name to the one stated on the license. Wanted to ask you all, does this sound good to you to proceed? Is this normal?

What names are on his certificate of insurance?
