Discussion about
Any good recommendations for a ventless washer/dryer? What are the advantages for combo vs stackable, if any? I know the cycle times are quite long, but not something I can really avoid at this point.

The megajumbohuge LG both-in-one nonventing washer/dryer. It'll take your clothes straight through if you want.

Second vote for the LG Model. The one from Malber is also good as is their service in NY, however the capacity is small and it has a tendency to wrinkle clothes when drying. I would also stay away from the Equator models, I hear they are very noisey.

Megajumbohuge? I have a 24 inch wide ventless LG combination washer/dryer that was installed under my kitchen counter and has worked beautifully for 3 years. Just be prepared to iron.

The combo tends to just heat the clothes and doesn't really blow air out.
Ventless actually vents but it does not blow out humid air (in other words - for a location where you do not have a vent out of your home).

This is really a condenser dryer. It works like a dehumidifirer but still blows air through the dryer and into the room ... in this case, the only difference from a regular dryer is that it blows air into your home instead of out of a vent. The reason that this is OK is becasue the air is not humid and will not cause mold.

I find the combo dryers that just heat your clothes to be very bad - they always feel a bit moist and take forever to dry.

Anyhow, I would go with the stacked becasue then you can get a condenser dryer that will actually leave your clothes dry and not terribly wrinkled.

I would recommend the Bosch Axxis:

It is a great stackable washer dryer and fits in a small space - it also has pretty good capacity for the size.

I am not familiar with the LG but I am very sceptical of the combo units -- also, just from a practical standpoint, it is nice to be able to start a second load while the first one is in the dryer.

I have the Bosch Axxis stackable, which I highly recommend.

Having a separate washer and dryer is key, imo.

With the diminished capacity of ventless models, the ability to do a wash load and a dry load simultaneously can't be overstated. Especially if you have kids (which I imagine is the only reason you absolutely *need* a w/d), it's much faster for multiple loads.

I have a Miele ventless stacked with one of their front loaders. You can stack them, go undercounter, or side by side if you like: http://www.miele.com/usa/laundry/dryers/product.asp?nav=21&model=306&series=23&subcat=24&cat=4

I found the dryer to work quite well. It does "blow air," but my belief is that it is just blowing room air through a heat exchanger (similar to a high end dehumidifier).

Miele is undoubtedly the best rated condenser but it is significantly more expensive than the Bosch. In my opinion the Bosch gives you the most bang for your buck.

Bosch Axxis--is where you should end-up. After an exhaustive 3 month search I wound up with this stackable pair (albeit with the vented dryer). If at all possible, I'd try to make venting work for you (even if it means some retro-fitting and/or perhaps venting through a window whenever you use and removing the hose when done)!! Ventless just can't compare! --call Gringer & Sons. for real-no-bs-advise....good luck.
