Discussion about
From: The Real Deal Clothing designer Betsey Johnson sold her two-bedroom penthouse apartment in Greenwich Village for $2.5 million, $1.1 million below its original asking price. The sale of the 1,660-square-foot co-op unit at 45 Fifth Avenue to Kemal Askar closed in August, according to city records published today. The unit went on the market late last year for $3.6 million. -- This is a classic example of how the market has really come back closer to reality. Even celebs aren't immune to this whole mess.

That's nothing. Rapper Damon Dash is on the verge of losing his condo in Tribeca to foreclosure because he defaulted on his $75,000 a month mortgae.

Yawn.

This is terribly old news, and was already a discussion thread mention on streeteasy a month or so ago.

$2.5 for a 1600 square foot pseudo 2 bed/1 bath (really a 1 bed), with $3000 maintenance, that (unless you are into gawdy decor) needs to be totally redone - doesn't sound like a steal or an example of how this marekt is taking a beating.

Can anyone explain how she paid $98,000 for unit 16B in May 2005? Something seems off, I'm missing something or she is quite the saavy business person and made a killing on this thing in two years.

Also - is there a single closet in that entire apartment?

layout was atrocious and very individualized. the decor was dated and extreme and would require a complete redo unless you like floor to ceiling pink in every square inch.

Any listing that includes the phrase 'fabulously frou-frou furnishings' is sure to be a doozy. What a train-wreck.
