Discussion about
Just downloaded it. I think the filters are insufficient b/c you cannot exclude apartments in contract. Ideally you'd like to have all the filters available on streeteasy. But the most important filter to have is the "open house" filter. In conjunction with the GPS device you can figure out what open houses are in the immediate vicinity. I think it would be a useful tool when going to open houses.
Just got the 3G yesterday. I've heard all the stories about 3rd party apps crashing or simply not running. Have you had any problems w/ the StreetEasy app?
No problems but I just downloaded it today. Also there a is an iPhone patch if you haven't downloaded it already.
Thanks. I've got the patch (v2.02), but it only claimed to improve 3G network performance, no mention of improving 3rd party app performance. The next rev, supposedly in a week or so, may address that. I'll report back once I've had the chance to work with the SE app.
i was thinking about buying the iphone 3g - is that true about the third party apps? please advise..jean claude jc
Thanks for the feedback about the iPhone app. Expect to see some of those changes coming very soon. We just released a new version with Rentals that was posted to the app store recently, and we're working on the next version that will have Open Houses.
The app, so far, feels like an "Introduction to StreetEasy." It's great that they got a jump on it, and it's a kick to see listings around where you just happen to be standing, but I miss the filters that hsw9001 mentioned, and it also needs to add the plus sign to "number of bedrooms." As is, the searches cast a very, very wide net, though to tell you the truth, I rarely do a StreetEasy search, except for open houses (which are needed in the app). I let my saved search do the work for me and I just check the daily emails.
The hard part is figuring out what features to leave out, as I use everything but Rental and New Development, and obviously other people want those features. I would want all the same things in the iPhone app.
I have to say, the Safari browser with horizontal viewing and the dbl screen-tap for zooming makes the full site quite usable. I'd love to see the app mature and make things more streamlined, but for now I think I'll stay w/ Safari. I am looking forward to updates of the app.
jeanclaudeho, if you run a search you'll find plenty of blogging about the G3's problems, but so far I haven't been dropping calls. The browser can be slow; my buddy was faster than me with his original iPhone on the Edge network yesterday. AT&T's 3G transmitters were put on the same towers as the 2.5G transmitters, but the 3G transmitters need to be closer together. They went cheap, and I hope they improve it. I haven't tried other 3rd party apps, but I'd love something to edit Word and Excel docs (as, it seems, would a million other people).
Just downloaded the new update. Now I can search open houses! Thank you streeteasy! I likely. :)
I updated to app an now it won't work! It just crashes after launching. Btw. I notice that the app has been removed from the App Store. What's going on?
