90-Day Notice to Vacate Period?!?!

My fixed-term lease is coming to an end next month, and I put in a 30-day notice. However, my landlord told me to review the contract closely, and turns out there I signed a 90-day notice period. I've rented many times in NYC in the past and never heard of a 90-day period. Is this even enforceable? What's the worst that the landlord can do in this case? My lease has a clear termination date too. I know month-to-month requires a 30-day legal notice period, so this seems way too restrictive...
