Hello, I have a question about the co-op tax abatement and the assessment. I bought my unit July 22 2022 and last year in Nov 2023 received the co-op assessment and the abatement to offset the former. This year I received the assessment but no abatement. I reached out to the management company and they said that the 2023 abatement was from the previous owner. I understand that since the old owner was living in the unit on Jan 5 2022 and was still the owner at the start of tax year 22-23 (July 1). However, I was the owner on Jan 5 2023 already and am confused why I didn't receive it for the 23-24 tax year as I was already living there on July 1 23. Do all new owners pay the assessment the first year of eligibility despite move in date? I'm trying to understand how I'd be still considered a new owner for the 23-24 tax year.
