The south side of 96th street and Broadway used to be occupied by Marty Reisman’s table tennis parlor.
Reisman was a world class ping pong player. His place was open 24/7 and anyone could drop by even if they did not play. Reisman wrote a book in 1974, called, The Money Player: The Confessions of America’s Greatest Table Champion and Hustler. Susan Sarandon was crazy about him. See pics on x.com.
One could hear many incredible erudite conversations going on; even David Mamet occasionally dropped by.
This place is my college diploma.
This building unfortunately is inappropriate for this location, but that’s “progress”
