Now I do understand why someone would want to do this as there are some people who seem to feel the West Village is the absolute center of the universe but I’m not sure why you would want to brag about this on the internet. Now I do understand why someone would want to do this as there are some people who seem to feel the West Village is the absolute center of the universe but I’m not sure why you would want to brag about this on the internet. I guess she seeks and craves attention and/or wants to boast about her glamorous life but apparently most of the internet viewers think she’s an idiot. Also, it’s ironic she discusses about making comprises and sacrifices to live where she does due to the very high cost of living yet she admits to eating out almost ever night which must add up (in fact she almost has to since her kitchen is so useless). At least her electric and gas bill should be tiny for such a tiny space… https://www.realtor.com/news/unique-homes/new-york-apartment-studio-kitchen-tiny-tiktok/ [less]
I think her calcs may be different. I have a not so wealthy friend who pays $3.5k for a 1 bedroom for his super smart daugther to go to law school in DC.
Then this good looking poster gets to meet the right type of persons in that area. Her dating and social life will be far busier - whether better depends on the individual. At least she has a reasonably large fridge and a dishwasher.
@911 - the intersection of a) people who would want to do this AND b) people that are fame chasing is.. large
I don't know that's it's a dumb idea. I had a (then-single) client that I talked out of renting in a generic transient building because I was like "who are you going to meet living there?" (She subsequently met her husband through work.) So if this person goes out and mixes with people in a neighborhood that has a concentration of singles, it might make sense.
Choosing not to cook is a different choice. She might not be able to make a pie, but she does have a microwave oven that you could probably make vegetables, rice, even a chicken in.
@front_porch - agreed, adds up given she's out a lot. She does't express regret (eg what did I get myself into?). I'm not even sure she's chasing fame. She just posted about it the way people post about what they ate last night. Is she humblebragging? Maybe but that's a judgement call not a slam dunk. It is a small kitchen.
If the microwave is a convection microwave, doesn't she effectively have an oven?
Quite a knife collection for someone who doesn't cook much
If she wanted to she could get a toaster oven that could bake a pie, chicken parts, etc.
I know of people who have giant 'chef's kitchens' who don't even boil eggs. They just use the space for show and order in or eat out all the time...
I think this is entirely fine. Except for the suggestion she should microwave chicken.
300>> At least she has a reasonably large fridge and a dishwasher.
And a microwave! I don’t have a microwave… so I’ll call it a toss-up between her kitchen and mine for the “Humblest Kitchen” award.
Ha. Believe it or not, I had a kitchen the same size once with half fridge under the gas stove. And I could cook two dishes at the same time in that. Oven, who cares.

Let us just say that your countertops have a little more space and drawers are nicely accessorized.
>> drawers are nicely accessorized
That’s the key, you gotta make use of the space you have efficiently!
Is that literally the studio? I ask because between your description, the pics, and the floorplan, none of them seem to match. So I’m having a hard time envisioning it.
Same floor plan. Look at the kitchen in the floor plan. Fridge is under the gas stove. Pictures have expanded kitchen.
The kitchen was really 5 feet wide and 5 feel deep.
Those are some long toes. I know people that kept shoes in their oven. I thought about doing that but was afraid I would forget and turn it on so I kept pan lids etc in there. Used it once in 22 years to heat up some danish.
I have to have a micro/convection for the occasional roasted bird
