Don't know the price specifically, but go to Lumber Liquidators near Union Square. They consistenly have the lowest prices, based on what I have seen/heard.

DO NOT EVEN THINK of calling Empire Today because their prices are among the highest in the industory (although they do offer a lowest-price guarantee, it comes with so many fine prints--and it doesn't apply to wood floors).

The best (though not cheapest) flooring I have ever used is at www.mafiusa.com. Really top quality, whether you choose a true 'solid' hardwood, or pre-engineered product. Just installing another of their products now in my home, and can't tell you how incredible the quality is.

i think the best is siberian living in tribeca on Greenwich street. the website is www.siberianliving.com they make a solid floor and engineered flooring as well, i bought the 6" wide plank flooring. I love it. check it out they did the flooring for AOL Time Warner Condo's and the Greenwich hotel.

So how much should it cost to rip up the flooring in a 1600sqft 2 bedroom apartment and then replace with this kind of wood floor?...........approximately

my square footage was very similiar- i had 1700 sq. ft. however you need to purchase more square footage to account for waste and board feet. depending what type of building you live in (rules for demo and construction and installing floors in your building) , i can't quote an accurate price and there are so many different types of wood floors..........

Not that it's any of my beeswax, but are you certain you want this type of floor? Brazilian cherry wood has become so ubiquitous in new developments that it is now almost a cliche. You might consider other, more traditional options (especially if this is a classic pre-war apartment); you wouldn't want to run into resale problems when the time comes to move.

Again, just my humble opinion.
