Discussion about
Several listings I have been following have become "inactive." They do not appear to have sold, but are no longer on the market or on the brokers' websites at all. Can anyone explain what this means?

I'm not exactly sure what "inactive" means according to the streeteasy site. I've seen an "inactive" listing under the catagory of "inactive sales listings" for a building that is now listed with another broker as "pending"on the same page. I think the streeteasy site should define what they mean by "inactive" and then have a computer program designed to that specification. "Inactive" should not imply "Sold."

I believe StreetEasy scans several websites (Prudential, Halstead, Corcoran, ...) to look for listings. Let's assume Prudential has a listing for a 2BR condo in Harlem. StreetEasy would then list it in its website. If that condo is sold, the listing would still be up on Prudential's website with a 'SOLD' tag that StreetEasy should catch. If Prudential pulls off the listing because the owner decides not to sell anymore, StreetEasy would list it as 'inactive'. This is an assumption on my part. Would be nice if StreetEasy could clarify.

I agree. Some inactive listing are sold and closed. Others have been taken off of the market....

We are going to be releasing an update in the near future which will hopefully make this much more clear. Not all brokers make this clear, so it's not as simple as it should be.
