Alas, the figure for New York was only down 0.24% from July, down 6.8% from August, 2007, and down 7.4% from its peak. That's better the most every other area of the country.

That said, it does seem like things came to a grinding halt in Manhattan in October.

Alas, Case-Shiller doesn't include Manhattan, and it is for the New York Metropolitan area, which according to it stretches from Bucks County, PA, to Hartford, CT.
