Discussion about
we are considering moving to this street. i know there is a project on 28th st and was wondering if anyone lived on the street or in the hood has any stories or issues with the street.
I live on 31 and 3rd - we really like the neighborhood. Convenient to everything and you have everything you need within a couple of blocks. Any specific questions
I think there is a recent thread on a new development in the area which should provide some helpful information as well.
i guess my question is about 28th street in particular. i know there is a project housing building on this street between 3rd and 2nd and i have heard rumors of meth clinics in the area. should my wife be worried about coming home at night?
There was some discussion about that in relation to the Jasper. Here are a few links:

I didn't even know it was there - never had any trouble at night -lots of youngsters staying out late and coming home after midnight. Also bars opened on 3rd late so it's not desolate.
I used to spend a lot of time on 3rd right there. I have no problems with 3rd. I'd think twice about being between 2nd and third, especially close to 3nd. Definitely a quick change in feel.
But, I think 3rd is relatively lively, some decent places (Jaya comes to mind).
27th and 2nd have government housing but third avenue is terrific.Ilived on 25th and third for a while and loved it.
There is a meth clinic on second and 24/25th street but they usually leave you alone.
Plus, if you decide you need a little giddy-up, they may be able to help you out if they are holding.
i've lived in the area for 4 years and have never had any problems at all.
I know the area well. In terms of safety, I think it's no worse and no better than most Manhattan.
