Why rents have come down. WEA isn't CPW

what is wrong with it? nothing other than one thing .... IT IS OVERPRICED!!! nobody is renting these units that are coming on the market. when these folks lose their jobs they either go back home or share apts, hence the current rise in supply. there are 2Brs, 1000sqft for 2800 in the W70s that are not moving. the dow is down from 14K to 8.5K .... you thought this would have no effect?

Totally, if that 2-br for 2800 exists, I'm renting it next week. Otherwise, I think I'll be sending Ms. Rena Katz an email.

I misinterpreted the initial post as insinuating the price was too low

UWSmom, you did not misinterpret anything; I would have thought the price would be higher. Perhaps I'm wrong.

most of these had OHs over the weekend. Just do a search under 2BR for UWS from 2500-3000 and there are some that pop up in the low 80s and 70s (5 or 6). now these are not quality bldgs, but these offers were absolutely inexistent 3 months ago.

not great quality but they are there.

I do think $2700 is a decent price for a 1Bd in this location (in elevator building)...at least a decent price from where we've been, maybe not great compared to where we're going...

i'll bet you 10 shares of lehman that it will still be there in a month unless they drop it to 2300.

Nothing visibly wrong with it except for the lavender bathroom walls. Who DOES that??

You're citing craigslist "deals," totally? Show up at those open houses and I guarantee you the apartments will look *nothing* like the photos. They will not be located where advertised, and you will have to pay a fee. I don't screw around with craigslist unless I'm looking to waste time these days.

evnyc, i went to the one on w74th and it was pretty honestly represented by the ad. it is true that there is an amazing amount of fraud on cl, however when they give the actual street and you call them and they don't tell you the classic, "oh, i just rented that one, but I have another one" then it is 50% of the time legit. anyway, the apt is there. market is down.
