NPD said the U.S. video game industry is set to top $22 billion in 2008, and Nintendo, Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) and Sony Corp (6758.T) said their strong sales in November showed that consumers are still spending despite the global economic crisis. Rising unemployment and tighter credit have dented U.S. consumers' purchasing power, and most retailers have posted dismal sales results in recent months. But the U.S. video game industry "continues to set a blistering sales pace," NPD analyst Anita Frazier said, with hardware and software sales strong even though this November had seven fewer shopping days than last year's. side note - childrens educational games and software up 35! Wow, a 10% raise!
You ALMOST offset your 30% decline in real estate!
Oh yeah, leverage. Damn.
my real estate doubled this year NYC10022 - just because you are on a losing streak doesnt mean everyone is.
All my employees got a bonus this year and a 5% raise - others more of a raise on performance..
petrfitz, do you own your company or you're just some top-ranking person there?
Hey hey hey....G.I. Joes and Barbie dolls do not count as employees.
Cleanslate Petrfitz owns half of the LES. He is a living legend in the RE field.
own it. my 4th new media company have sold 3 previous
and not half of the LES just 4 buildings and a couple units
I know, if you don't believe in superheroes and fairies before, petrfitz can prove you wrong. I've never met someone who is so perfect and so lucky it's mind-boggling.
It's not mind-boggling...it's Petrfitz!
Coming soon to a theatre near you
why is any who doesnt do what you do for a living "lucky"
just because I make a good living and made some good investments you guys who dont think that I am lying.
bankers wankers etc
How much bonus did you give, petrfitz? Hopefully, you did not do this out of a whim just so you can prove the SE users that your company is invincible. Or at least, I hope this is not all talk, cuz everybody can make up stories, not as good as you, though.
"why is any who doesnt do what you do for a living "lucky" just because I make a good living and made some good investments you guys who dont think that I am lying."
No, because when you talk technology, its very apparent to people actually in the field that you're not in the field.
Does being a lying broker shill really afford you so much downtime that you follow news stories about video game sales? Or are video games just the way you spend your free time now that you don't have anymore clients?
I think video games go along with ammo and canned goods. When you're not planning on or able to emerge much it pays to invest in some entertainment.
Even if one were to believe what Petrfitz says about having three residences (and possibly soon the one next door on LI); the idea that homes in NYC, Las Vegas, and LI doubled in the past year is ridiculous.
More importantly, the fact that Petrfitz's small subsection of industry is doing well does not mean it can bolster the entire economy. There were people who's income was not hurt at all by the Great Depression, and who continued to live lives of ease while the rest of the country crashed (Florence Vanderbilt Twombly, for example.)
So, Petrifitz, congratulations that you managed to find a job that is as of yet unaffected. But thinking that that is an example of why NYC RE can't fail is naive at best.
I mean, c'mon, petrfitz, we don't have to list all the good fortune that you have from your SAT score, to your heiress wife, to your invincible company, to your RE tycoon/mogul status. I'm surprised you even deemed to talk to us mere humans. Ohhh yeah, cuz your hobby is to condescend people.
tech guy - ask me one question. You cant all you do is go back to your ridiculous argument that customer facing code and applications do not need to be reviewed by legal and cant violate trademarks. You continue to prove that you are a bigger moron each day!
Cleanslate - bonus depends on position level and performance. so employees get 25-50% of their salary bit employees with compensations that do not involve a high level of bonus all recieved 10% this year.
cleanslate - some people in the world are not wall street a holes. Sorry we chose a path with a soul.
"Ohhh yeah, cuz your hobby is to condescend people."
Yet is a bleeding heart liberal (I say this as a moderate liberal myself). Isn't it so stereotypical of bleeding heart liberals to condescend renters, the working class, the poor... oh wait, that actually makes zero sense at all.
With a soul? Funny and disputable. At least, not with class though. You can buy your status, but you can't buy class. :)
> my real estate doubled this year NYC10022 - just because you are on a losing streak doesnt mean
> everyone is.
Yes, Manhattan is down 20%, but he bought on the magical block of fantasy land.
And he bought in vegas before the bubble pop, and thats doubled, too.
Just like his "prices up 15% by spring" prediction in January was "proven".
Yes, all RE values double in the insane asylum.
Wait, they doubled again.
And again.
He just made a trillion dollars.
what a bunch of jealous little naysayers - i dont know how to make any money in this economy so no one else must know how to either!
I think its more along the lines of if someone needs to anonymously brag to a bunch of strangers about how well they are doing...well...they probably aren't doing all that well.
bingo....
particularly when its the guy who told you what he was investing in, right before it tanked...
you mean right before it tanked? I bought my buildings in 2001. mostly during the RE post 9/11 crash. how is that "right before it tanked?"
"tech guy - ask me one question"
I have faith in your ability to google for answers. Why ask questions when you volunteer so much useful material? At least a dozen things you said in the links below that a first year CS student would laugh at.

I mean, you didn't know the "J" in J2ME stood for "Java". You bragged about using J2ME while making fun of Java. The very first 2 words of any J2ME code is "import java".
> you mean right before it tanked? I bought my buildings in 2001. mostly during the RE post 9/11
> crash. how is that "right before it tanked?"
You said it most of 2007, and said it even louder in January 2008. You pretty much called it right at the top of the bubble.
You also said you were buying then.
Were you lying then or now?
You've also admitted that you lost your shirt on RE years back as well.
I guess that makes it twice....
Bah Java is lamo. .NET ftw ;)
well, if anyone is behind the times, its pertfitz...
I love gimps who go on forums and talk up their business acumen and net worth. petrfitz is nothing but a cubicle-jockey who is so depressed with his status in life that he feels the need to live out a fantasy life on this board.
Any update?
