Tribeca or SoHo

All those neighborhoods are overrated. Too dirty and grimy. And very few nice residential buildings.

I agree with Rufus. Soho is about as grimy as NYC can get. Between all the bodegas and low end retail on Prince St and the massive Wooster St. Housing Projects, the place is miserable.

Soho stinks. I don't know why people want to live there. Manhattan has way too many housing projects; plus, they're building a massive sanitation project in soho as well. The neighborhood is a total dump.

Soho is the pits. The projects are everywhere. The streets are overrun with crowbar wielding hoodlums all day long. My friend was shot on Spring St last week. It's getting out of control.

I third that. NYC will never be on the same level as the greatest city in the world, CHICAGO. They should just turn every new condo into a housing project. There are so many housing poorjects in Manhattan. It is disgusting. Why are there housing projects in every single street in NYC? Bloomberg should listen to Daley more.

Who wants to live next to someone that is living in the poorjects and is on welfare? This liberalism is out of control in NYC. What are we going to do next? Pay people not to go to work?

Yes, the Wooster St. Housing Projects are huge a sprawling, and practically cut SoHo in half, but you have to appreciate their diversity compared to other projects. And sorry about your friend -- I hear a lot of that happening in SoHo these days, but only after nightfall.

Still, it's a great neighborhood where you can hit up a couple of 99-cent stores on the same block as a high-end jewelry store or boutique.

Kingdeka... how did you just read my mind?!? I was just about to say that I am so disgusted that we can't be more like the finest city on earth, Chicago. We really need to learn from them as they will take the world into the future. I can't get over how many projects there are in Greenwich Village and Soho. Especially the West Village...sheesh its Hudson St and then projects everywhere. I'm amazed I haven't been murdered over there.

Alanhart, my friend was shot with a 12 gauge shotgun at about 2:45PM on Spring and Prince last Thursday. He was just trying to go to the Apple store and the thugs from the housing projects on Wooster thought he was trying to encroach on their 'turf' so they shot him. It seriously is making me consider relocating to Chicago, where I KNOW I will be safe.

SoHo is a shithole. I don't understand the appeal of it. Perhaps you like living next to graffiti tagged buildings, but I'll pass.

TriBeCa can be nice. Very family friendly.

jgr, i agree. The area looks like an inner city ghetto. So much graffiti everywhere. It's sick.

Soho is definitely one of the worst inner city ghettos out there. You see how many burned out cars there are on Mercer? Its like something out of Mad Max.

NYC has so much graffiti. It is a dirty and graffiti city. Chicago is much cleaner and graffiti free.

Plus, NYers are so rude. Chicagoans are very pleasant and soft spoken people.

I would never live in SoHo.

The trucks and delivery vans in NY are covered in graffiti. It is a huge problem. And the crime in NYC is out of control. NYC is pretty much the homicide capital of the USA.

If you HAD to live in the area because your job is here, I would only live in Connecticut or North Shore Long Island only. NYC is only for the liberals who like living in housing projects.
