Discussion about
HousingPredictor.com is projecting a 19.4% decline in Manhattan home prices in 2009. And Moody's Economy.com is predicting that condo prices in New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester County will fall 29% by the fourth quarter of next year. "Nationally, we think this recession is going to be worse than anything we've seen in 40 years," said Marisa DiNatale, senior economist for Moody's Economy.com. "If the economy gets that bad, then you will start to see foreclosures in Manhattan as well." http://news.yahoo.com/s/bw/20081224/bs_bw/dec2008bw20081223927689
If you're interested in shiller's work, check the NYT's website a few years back (just use his name in the search box) and you'll see the work he did on Amsterdam real estate to establish pricing. He used the dutch because they are good record keepers
The "Asking Price" & "Sold for Price" don't coincide in any market, especially todays market. As, Barbara Corcorcan said, "You can ask for what you want it don't mean you are going to get it." And, BC also, said, "Yes, now is the time to buy." LOL.
As stated the "SAFETY CHUTE FAILED"
I think Barbara also said now is the time to sell, when she is talking to owners. Sorry but after Lehman what possible hope was there for this to be short and shallow.
