Discussion about
I went to a house party last night at the Paramount Building on east 39th street. a glenwood property. For the location, it was a ridiculously nice building, with one of the best lobbies I've ever seen. The guy was telling me how the penthouse unit is currently being rented for $42,500/month! I'm surprised I've never heard of this building until last night.

I'm surprised... because that location is absolutely awful. I think its one of the worst in the city, the whole Tudor City zone. Just lifeless. Sandwiched in between Grand Central and the tunnel...

Yeah, that's what surprised me. I don't know why anyone would spend that kind of money to live in that area.

Maybe this is the same guy who told me Manhattan RE would double in 2009.

Wow. I see that.

Probably got some foreigner to rent it, who doesn't get that proximity to Grand Central isn't what they mean by "location"...

Yeah, I'm really curious to see who the idiot is.

Aside from that one listing, I know of a lot of wealthy people who are now renting. It's become more pervasive in the past year or so.
