Discussion about
I hear % increases from 2 to 18%. Some buildings locked in high fuel oil costs last summer and fall for this winter, thus their 2009 budgets don't benefit from the lower fuel oil costs. 2009 economy should cause more focus on the monthly maintenance component along with pricing of apartments.

Our building had an 8% increase in 2008 and no increases for 3 years prior to this. I do no think any ibcrease is planned for 2009. The property taxes are supposed to be about a 7% increase I think, but I could be wrong on that number.

Yes, taxes are going up 7%. That's right.

Ours is going up 6.5%, but no more fuel surcharge, so it'll be pretty much a wash.

With rents coming down and the propensity for some buyers to consider rent=monthly maintenance, there'll be some who will shy away from buying and apartment.
