Discussion about
Check out this floorplan: http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/sale/356129-coop-67-east-11th-street-greenwich-village-new-york A bedroom without a window facing the outside? Thought that was made illegal with the tenenment laws in the early 20th century.

That's why the first words in the listing are "Huge studio apartment..."

Don't you need a window AND a closet to call a room a bedroom? Usually they would call that space a home office & I think a space like that would be ideal for a home theatre but bedroom is stretching the point & may be illegal.

To the right it says, '1 bed 1 bath'.

I think the agent got it right (in this case), Street easy just changed the 1 bedroom on the right side to 2 rooms. But the floor plan should say home office or something, not interior bedroom.

You only need a window, not a closet - to call it a bedroom.
BTW, many pre-war apartments are very light on closets, because those days they use to have furniture.

look at this one:
http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/sale/358656-condo-130-west-30th-street-chelsea-new-york
the broker was so annoying. i told her that room was a bedroom and more of a home office but she just kept calling it a bedroom over and over again in all sorts of different sentences until i had to run from the open house.

The broker web site lists it as a 1 bedroom with a footnote:

* The number of bedrooms listed above is not a legal conclusion. Each person should consult with his/her own attorney, architect or zoning expert to make a determination as to the number of rooms in the unit that may be legally used as a bedroom.

No one is commenting on the price...a studio listed for $525k. Where are the lower prices?

well the pricing is skewed cause they are trying to market is as a one bedroom (with asterix)
