Discussion about Trump World Tower at 845 United Nations Plaza in Turtle Bay
I recently looked at some units for sale at Trump World Tower and I must admit, I was a little disappointed with the quality of the kitchens. They are very generic, boring white cabinets, gray granite and GE stainless steel... you'd think at these prices they would have at least put a nicer kitchen, very boring. However, I liked EVERYTHING else. I would probably gut the kitchen and redo with Viking and Subzero. What do you guys think of the quality of the finishes there?
Anything above the 50th floor has the most amazing views, especially because of where the building is located. To the east you have the UN which isn't getting any taller meaning your Eastern views are protected forever. The rest of the area around the building is built so nothing is getting any taller, the views are just great, especially for the Fouth of July Fireworks, they are practically IN your living room! I love everything about this building, including the fact that there are extremely high speed elevators. I looked at a unit on the 82nd floor, the elevator was SO fast I thought I was going to shoot out of the roof! High security meaning unimpeded privacy, probably why the building has quite a few high-profile residents. However, I will second that kitchen comment by #2, they are kind of boring, but when you spending this kind of money, you would probably be gutting anyway. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the kitchens it's just that people with an unlimited budget would more than likely change everything anyway. I will more than likely be TWT's newest resident.
There is a existing tax abatement. But, there is an assessment to pay for the lawyer fees to get the tax abatement making it worthless. The assessment is as expensive as the taxes wouldve been. Plus, you lose the tax benefit of the taxes paid. Stupid stupid stupid. So if youre absolutely wealthy and don't care, so be it...but if you a mediocre-wealthy ( aka less than 3mil home , it makes a difference and its a turn off.
This is hands down the best building on the eastside!
I think I've seen a lot of units available there, for some reason. I can imagine the views would be amazing.
There are a lot of units available mostly because a lot were bought by investors. The building is also home to many second homes and pied-a-terres so it's not very crowded, which can be good and bad.
