Discussion about 226 East 70th Street in Lenox Hill
the neighborhood is great, the rents are reasonable and there is always noise in manhattan...
that is comparably very small/quiet post office -- is there a firehouse? school? different question.
I live on the block and have never experienced any problems with having the post office there. There is less street parking available but this in turn brings less traffic. I have never experienced any abnormal amount of noise... as Julia said, there is always noise in Manhattan. However, on the weekends it is very peaceful.
great, thanks everyone for comments.
hi, additional question to anyone who knows specifics of building 226 on e70th. there is an inner courtyard in the building. inside the courtyard there are loading/unloading docks for post office. can anyone comment if these docks are active and if they are, how frequent pickups are and if there's noise in the morning when mails gets picked up. thank you!
I like that post office, it's old fashioned with brass & marble.
The post office is insanely loud! I used to live here and would routinely wake up at 2 am (even with my AC on loud) because of the commercial garbage truck pickups and post office trucks backing up and honking. If you want to live in a quiet building on the Upper east side.... this is not it
Agreed! Mail trucks CONSTANTLY blocking the street = lots of angry honking drivers. There is excess noise and activity at ALL hours of the night- idling trucks, loud banging, bright flood lights, yelling workers, etc.
