I doubt many people that can afford nice townhouses spend much time on this site. Their agents do all the work for them. Good luck though.

Umm just becacuse you have a lot of money doesn't mean you can't go on a forum and discuss this sort of thing.. FYI I live in a single family townhouse in the east 60s

agreed. I think the more $$ you have the more interested you are in the opinions of people who are not employed by the real estate machine. The more you have to spend the more you have to lose if the market goes down. I know the money I spend on a property will be money that's not being put to work in the securities markets.

I certainly did not say you can't go online and solicit opinions. My point was that townhouses below Manhattan are very, very expensive and after being on this site for a while, it is my opinion that not a lot of people that can afford $5M+ apartments spend a lot of time here. Just an opinion, which I bet will be validated when not a lot of people post helpful info for you. Again, good luck though.

Just because you can't afford a $5M apartment doesn't mean that you can't offer good advice, no matter how much you spend, everyone has to go through the same motions when buying property.

Agreed that this is useless. As the comment 2 places above, not everyone goes through the same motions. If you are spending over $5M, you get better service and advice from your broker(s) and lawyer(s) than somebody at $500K. Soliciting random advice from people not in your range probably is not that helpful. People not in your range will not look at comparable properties. If you need advice on neighborhood, etc., you need better service from your broker.

This being a real estate website, I would hope that people at all economic levels would be discussing real estate here. If you're in the market for something, you want to discuss your purchase & yes, your broker should know quite a bit but they are trying to sell you something, after all. Why not share our expertise instead of being snarky? Geez

I love the real estate websites, Corocoran is probably my favorite, followed by Douglas Elliman, Brown Harris Stevens, Halstead, cbhk, Stribling. It seems that the Upper West Side & the West Village are 2 areas with a number of townhouses. They don't always 'live', aren't laid out, the way we live today & I'm surprised that I don't see many dumb waiters in these houses. Lots of schlepping & potential spills on the way to the dining table.
