Discussion about
My wife and I are going to be in between condos for about a month this Spring due to offset close dates. Any reccomendations on getting furnished housing for that period? Nothing elaborate -- clean, decent neighborhood in manhattan, kitchen. We are trying to avoid a hotel and only should need for about 4-6 wks. Thanks!
have you seen the prices of furnished corporate apartments? unreal!
yeah -- like 4-5K/month is what I saw. looking for something a little more coste effective . . .
Yeah. I'm living in one right now. Woof!
Craigslist.org - New York City - Real estate - Manhattan - Sublets and Temporaries. Rent from an owner! We've been kicking around NYC for over a year now waiting to find the perfect place at the perfect price (Ha!) to buy. We're in our fifth sublet from an owner and we found all but one on Craigslist. The one not from Craigslist was a referral from one of our Craislist landord's to a friend of his. Good luck. It's easy and cost effective.
thanks -- I figured Craigslist would be a good source, but was wary of the scams I have been hearing about (people listing and subletting places they don't even own).
That's most likely our next step.
I think you'll be savvy enough to sniff out a scam right away. You meet the person offering the sublet at the apartment and hear their reason for subletting (they always tell you). You assess the person, the apartment and their reason to sublet and your instincts will et you know right away if something doesn't jibe.
But be prepared for rejection. I'm educated, dress well, can write a check that clears, but it's always the least desirable, tattiest units with marginal inhabitants that turn me down.
