Discussion about
Clearly not bankers with all the 'schadenfreude' they have. Are there any subjects besides falling bonuses/real estate prices that you find worth to discuss?

Why is that? Because I don't keep repeating the same subjects over and over again??? Let's talk about something new not the same old over and over and over again.

well considering this is a real estate board you should expect most of the thread to be about real estate related items such as real estate prices. but you know what, why dont you start a new thread about something and see what happens, its worth a shot.

"Clearly not bankers with all the 'schadenfreude' they have. Are there any subjects besides falling bonuses/real estate prices that you find worth to discuss?"

Sounds like a banker that is watching the value of his/her purchase decline drastically. :-/

The challenge has been posted. You're obviously hanging around here, quite a bit, if you're able to deem our discussions unworthy.

So, why don't you add to the mix instead of just bashing what's being discussed by others?

I know two other people who got food poisoning in the past 4 days.

My theory: It's Restaurant Week. Half the meals being served have been fished out of the garbage.

They don't make Zweibacks?

What's a teething child to do?

That said, I also love graham crackers. I used to eat them instead of giving them to animals at the Catskill Game Farm. Portended a niggardly future, I suppose.

Oh yeah? I'll see your graham cracker and raise you a dog biscuit, which I used to sometimes sneak instead of giving it to Fido (those big yummy toasted ones - just couldn't resist :P)

Wall Street bonuses were the biggest factor in Manhattan RE on the way up... suddenly we're in a crash and they're irrelevant?

Wall Street bonuses were just one component of Manhattan real estate on the way up. There was also the flight to real estate vs. tech after the tech crash, there was also the gold rush by foreigners, and there was also Wall Street markets -not bonuses but rather financial products and ease of lending and securitization. Wall Street bonuses themselves didn't creat this.

Wall Street was DIRECTLY 30% of NYC income (city stat) and 1/3 of apartment buyers (REBNY stat). And lawyers and all the other spots COMPLETELY dependent on Wall Street probably moved that closer to 50%.

Underplaying their importance here is illogical.

uppereast, perhaps you are having an issue with being so negative all of the time given market conditions. It is hard to take yourself out when you are clearly in it - otherwise you wouldn't be able to comment it. Nothing is objective, ummm we are all part of the whole blah blah. Anyway, if you do not like the threads, or the commentary, dare to be "different" post something cheery and delightful that we can all have a wonderful time discussing :)

Ya, that's why I avoid rest wk. Eating dog food, cat food & out of the garbage: sounds like we're preparing our palate for depression dining. I'll reserve fancy feast for special occasions & holidays.

WHERE???? I was knocking on restaurants' back doors and taking their leftovers, but since the New Year they've been telling me they can't afford to throw anything out; they serve it next day to paying customers.
