Discussion about 201 W 77th Street #6T
this is a bait and switch. saw the apt and it has no resemblance to these pictures. it's still being renovated. rachel reality is a joke.
oooh. tell me more about rachel realty. They list a lot of classic 6's, which we'll be looking at this summer. what has your experience been like with them?
saw the same ad the other day, was curious why no floor plan. Then looked at a few other listings of theirs, always one key piece of data missing. However, I will defend her. Not once does she say that she will not bait and switch or that she will always maintain the highest ethical standards. It really isn't fair to accuse someone of something they never claimed to be.
Also, what's the building like (201 W 77th)? Is it well maintained?
"Not once does she say that she will not bait and switch or that she will always maintain the highest ethical standards"
LOL!! Do others make this claim....a claim of highest ethical standards!?!? Sorry, that has me belly laughing!!
Generally you are well served to go with a top brokerage like Corcoran or Halstead. Fringe firms like Rachel don't hold themselves to the same ethical standards.
ethical standards and real estate broker can't be used in the same sentence, rachel realty or corcoran.
Especially in this market, where everybody is feeling cornered and broke and nothing is renting.
And the building is not particularly well maintained and I think the landlord is about to feel the pinch of this market as more of his apartments become available

Ha! Seriously, I learned that unless you are dealing with a top tier firm, the photos don't mean anything unless the description states that they are actual photos of the apartment listed (see e.g. http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/nfb/1039220898.html). I've also seen ads mentioning that the pictures are "representative" of the actual apartment, whatever that means. It's as if posting real pictures is optional behavior! Maybe that's one feature that Streeteasy can add to its rental searches: Photos. The options being "Photos are of actual apartment" vs. "Photos at least representative of actual apartment" vs. "Don't care".
201 west 77th is a dumpy building.. it does have an attended lobby by the elevator and halls are a bit run down
