Discussion about
There's a 10-block area in Yorkville, north of 87th (the PS290 catchment area) and zigzagging east of 3rd and 2nd ave (the PS198 area) that doesn't seem to be designated for any public elementary school. Does anybody know what happens with young kids who live in that area, how are they placed etc.? Thanks

If you go to this website and click on "zone," you can type in the exact address and figure out what school the building you are considering is zoned for:

There is a lottery system for 6 area schools for that area. But the deadline was earlier this week.

I think it's 158. There is supposed to be a new T&G middle school in the area, I think in the Azure development (this is old news, may be wrong by this point). Not very many of those at the middle school level, and IS89 is the only decent middle school that I can think of that is also a new facility (or relatively new in 89s case).
