Hi, I plan on downsizing and decluttering within the next month, and I expect the project to entail throwing out a lot of junk. If I were in the suburbs I would rent a dumpster for the junk and park it in my garage or driveway. Is there an equivalent in NYC? Thanks.
Long Island City
Depends which section of town you are in, but most areas have a Halstead office large enough to handle your stuff. If it seems that the local office is not big enough then you might want to try a CitiHabitats office as a backup.
You can rent a dumpster here as well. They will deliver it and then pick it up, we did this when clearing out our brownstone and doing some renovating in Chelsea.

Most apartment buildings declutter for you...
Just ask the super.
Also -- I hired allshred to come and take my old laptops, papers to shred and identity sensitive items. City opera thrift took 30 black garbage bags of clothes and shoes.
A girl took away all my unwanted books to bring to a resale store.

A dumpster.
you do not need a dumpster -- your building can dispose of it on trash days -- look on the nuc website for sanitation and tip your building guys...
