only 150 years? But now he will be out of jail when he is 220! What kind of justice is that?

my prediction: he will be one of the most famous criminals of our era. They will put him in the history books, and kids 20 years from now will read about him.

There is something sort of fascinating about Madoff, that will keep people reading about him for a long time. I suppose it is the complete absence of a conscience.

This has been one of the more peculiar cases of fraud. The new Vanity Fair has an article on him...just blows your mind. A complete lack of conscience is an enormous understatement. Weeks before he turned himself in he was stealing money from a widow, hugging her and her son..telling them everything would be okay.

GG: The truly fascinating thing is the sheer number of idiots that got taken by him. Madoff is not the story. The story is who got paid back early and who got taken. Like they always say, "a fool and his money were lucky to have gotten together in the first place". If a truly financially illiterate person lost 10-20% of their wealth then I do in fact feel bad for them. Any person with more than 20% of their wealth with Madoff deserves to lose it, greed is certainly a terrible thing. Anyone who has some financial background, well you know the rest.

They all walked around Palm Beach like their shit didn't stink and bragged "I'm with Madoff"!
Why did no one at the SEC listen to Harry Makropoulos.
In May of 1999, a very nice Greek–American by the name of Harry Makropoulos, the world’s greatest expert on derivatives, sent a report to the SEC’s Boston office calling the Madoff operation the ‘world’s largest hedge fund fraud’.I am worried about the personal safety of myself and my family. The report has been written solely for the SEC’s internal use.’ Whom was he afraid of? Those in the know say Mossad and Israel; I say rogue Mossad agents acting alone with Madoff.
