Discussion about
Hi, I'm looking for a new 1 bdrm rental apartment and wondering if anyone can suggest buildings that meet the following criteria: * Within 3 blocks of 72nd and Broadway * Renovated kitchens with pass thru to dining/living room area (or be completely open) * Doorman * Pre-war or new building is fine Thanks!

(In the office and procrastinating) Three condo buildings that always seem to have availability come to mind:

The Ansonia (2109 Broadway) (see sample listing here: http://www.prudentialelliman.com/Listings.aspx?ListingID=1075685)

The Alexandria (201 West 72nd) (see sample listing here: http://www.brownharrisstevens.com/detail.aspx?id=988017)

The Level Club Condo (253 West 73rd) (see sample listing here: http://www.corcoran.com/property/listing.aspx?Region=NYC&listingid=1482934)

I would live in any one of those buildings. The Alexandria has the added benefit of a swimming pool. The 1-BR apartments in all three vary significantly in layout and finishes. Some are really dumpy and dated, but once in a while a gem becomes available.

Hmmm...can't actually recommend from personal experience, but can suggest a few.

La Rochelle might fit your criteria (though I don't know your budget). Nice location. http://www.57west75.com/bt/larochelle/layouts.asp

The Astor - http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/building/235-west-75-street-manhattan
Our pediatrian's office is on the first floor...seems like a nice building. Very convenient location. Could get noisy though since it's right off of Broadway. Not sure what their floorplans look like.

10 West 74th - not sure if it's doorman actually, but I'm sure it's secure. Lovely, peaceful location.

Thanks very much. These look promising.

OnTheMove: my budget is roughly $3k/month, though I could go slightly higher if the apartment is great.
