I find most apts listed on craiglist either advertised by non listing broker or a apt that's not realy for sale just a broker trying to get a prospective buyer. It's frustrating to find lsitings without addresses because these ad once again on not listed by the broker advertisng on criagslist.

if you are selling in NYC without a broker, you need to list your place in the nytimes online.

It really depends on the price point and location. You may also want to consider the Voice. Of course, if you are talking about prime Manhattan (e.g., the Upper Westside with a view of the river or park) and more than 1 million (2million), then, yes, the Times is the way to go.

I am a broker and I agree with #2 that NYT is the way to go. It is doubtful that you will find a direct buyer who is either inclined or able to as easily sift through the 10 million fake broker ads, especially as the brokers "advertising" on CL so go in for hyperbole that your apt will not be eyecatching by comparison. Also agree that a lower end sales listing might do well in the voice.Having said that, CL is free so no harm in listing it there as well.
