Sorry deepwoof - but the East Village got screwed when it came to public school zoning. Earth School and Neighborhood School are both very good, but as charter schools they only accept a few students, often by lottery divided by race - for example one year Earth accepted 3 white kids. East Village Community school is OK, but depends on the teacher, and there tends to be discipline problems. You can try and apply for NEST, but while they are supposed to favor District 1 applicants, in the past they haven't.

Definitely check the urban baby boards - you'll get a lot more information there.

#3, are there other schools like NEST in the city, preferably UWS, UES?
