My mortgage was purchased by Countrywide and they've been a pleasure to work with. The site is easy to manage; customer service is solid. I did get into a typical "big company" issue during a recent refinancing but was able to speak to a regional manager within one day and have the problem resolved to my satisfaction immediately. Overall, I would highly recommend.

Countrywide boought our greenpoint mortgage so we had no choice but I would never use them. They don't allow assigment of loans so you cannot save on mortgage recording tax should you ever need to refinance with another lender. You end up paying it twice. If they allowed assigments then you could do CEM (consolidation, Extension, Modification) and not pay mortgage tax on the part you initially paid for.
