Depends on many factors, and peoples opinions on this vastly differ. Are you planning to live here for the next years or more?Do you have a very favorable rental situation? Are you seeing things you like that are affordable for you?I think it is a fine time to buy per se, but there are a number of situations in which I would say not necessarily. Of greatest importance is the length of time you plan to live in the unit.

I say buy if you are looking to hold the apartment at least a few years.

Too vague. If it's in NYC, location is crucial. Type and size of unit is important, too. Time horizon (as mentioned above) also matters. Finishes of unit and building amenities also factor in. Need much more information to make a reasonably informed response.

I think only with a 10-15 year horizon. If you are going to sell in 5 years it is not worth it.

buy if you will not sell for at least 5yrs. the rental market is sky high and if you dont have a good rental situation you are screwed
