Has anyone lived or currently live in The Vermeer at 14th & 7th? Are/Were you happy with it and how is the noise between apartments?

I have a friend who lives there and it seems to be a delightful building including a great roof deck. He's happy there. I've never noticed noise when I've been there.

I know the neighborhood well. Make sure the windows are really good, especially if you're on a lower floor facing 7th or 14th. Crazy noisy on weekend nights, especially in the summer. Walk around at about 11 PM (or later) on a warm weekend evening and see what you think. Maybe this year will be different because of the recession, but past years have been tough.

Also, lots of truck traffic in the early AM - 14th streets and 7th avenue are "highways". And, there seems to be fairly regular repairs to the infrastructure on 15th st and also 7th ave.

It seems like they have some capital improvements coming up - also google the vermeer on NYTimes.com for previous building structural improvements made a long time ago - 90s? get a hold of some of the coop minutes going back a few years and see what you can learn.

Great neighborhood, great transportation access (can get a cab at any time easily, subways and bus right down stairs), and great public schools. Couldn't be a more convenient location - just about anything you need is within a few blocks.

the board has a rep for being tough, take extra care with your application.

Interested in the building but am wary as a registered sex offender found at familywatchdog.us is listed as employed at the address in apt 21J. How would one find out who is employed at the building?

I also know this building well. Amazing convenient location as it's one block walk to L/F/M 6th Ave lines, one block to 8th Ave E/C line and right on top of 7th Ave Express stop. Strict board, but makes for a well run building with excellent financials. New windows were just installed building-wide that make apartments inside almost silent.

Would the board allow one to build in a washer / dryer in the apartment?

The Vermeer is a great Coop with very low maintenance which includes all utilities! Building has installed brand new windows last summer and updated their gas pipes lines to code this year (no assessment). The board is very fair with the application approval process, pet friendly coop with big dogs allowed.

Fantastic planted roof deck, WiFi, teak tables and chairs, your own private park in the sky with the best views in the city. Friendly doormen and staff located between the West Village and Chelsea, the famous "Westside Market" is in the building too. This is a real winner!

Fantastically well managed financially building. A large building that feels like a small close knit community. Fantastic long-serving caring staff. Lowest maintenance charges around.
