Discussion about
I noticed that someone brought up P.S.84 during a previous thread, and since my daughter is in a K class there I thought I'd share my impressions of the school. The principal, Robin Sundick, is fantastic. She sets a welcoming, open, approachable, flexible tone that has allowed this year's PTA to implement a wealth of new programs and fund-raising activities. Unlike many schools it is not overcrowded. There are only three kindergarten classes this year: monolingual, dual language Spanish, and dual language French. We are moving apartments and have made a point of staying in the zone. We are very happy at the school now and think that it will continue to evolve positively.

Hows does living in/close to the low 90s feel? in terms of crime, does it feel much different to the low 80s?

i have a friend who has one child in private and two here. loves both. can confirm that it is not overcrowded. there is so much negativity spewed about the schools (i'm guilty, i'll confess) that it's nice to hear of a local school still slightly under the radar that is good and not yet overrun.

I feel very safe here. The neighbourhood is, of course, much more mixed in the low nineties but it certainly feels safe.
