Discussion about
i'm looking to rent a 3BR on UWS. what do you guys recommend as the best way of going about it in this environment? from reading some of the other threads seems that a lot are finding great deals by going directly to the management co's... i've tried that but there are very few 3br in these bldgs. craigslist by owner section is anything but that -- basically a bunch of brokers pimping the same apts as "no fees". are there good rental brokers people can recommend? any other avenues? thx

The management companies have mostly newer rental buildings, and not many threes in those. Even in pre-war buildings, many fewer threes than twos.

You might want to check out 365 WEA (though the owner uses a broker) and 441-451 WEA.

365WEA seems to be a very nice building, I have been in a few apt's.

Also look at 575WEA.

There's a book at the front desk of the columbia. 96th and broadway. Also, try the 2 buildings at 95th and 96th and Columbus.

Kris Kamajian is good - she helped us find a well-priced 3BR/3BA a few years ago. 9178856971.

I'd suggest you approach 3-br sellers who have been on the market a long time. They might be relieved to give up and sublet.

columbiacounty, what's your basis for that? We paid one month's rent - about half of what you're saying.
