Public School in Chelsea (PS 11)?

Re the NTTimes article on the new allure of public schools, can anyone comment on PS11 in Chelsea? I've heard it's an up and coming, promising elementary school in Chelsea. Wondering if anyone has any details on exacvtly how promising this school is??

I have the same question from parents who have kids there. I appreciate any help. I have checked insideschools.org but appreciate a personal and direct experience.

Here's what I know. I have friends whose children went to the regular program at 11 and went to very good public middle schools such as Salk. It is up and coming. The GT program there is very good and helped to bring the school up overall. Usually once this happens the DOE will remove the GT program because the school is now good on its own. They did this at ps116. Many people now send their kids there. It is not as good as 40, 41, or 3 downtown but it is good and apparently has a pool. My friend was happy with the school. 20 years ago forgetaboutit. Any more questions I may be able to answer?
