Has anyone noticed that in the past month the available homes in the burg have gone down substantially? their were about 730 for sale last month and is now at under 630. Can anyone explain the cause?
For what I can see, very, very few sales in Williambsburg. The overwhelming majority of the places unlisted shave been taken off the market. You can check it yourself here in SE.
Yep, I agree. My WB email alerts have been telling me that lots of places are being changed to unavailable, usually a whole building at a time.
for example, warehouse 11 was recently announced bankrupt
I never understood the appeal of Williamsburg for BUYING. I moved there when I was in my 20s, looking for dirt-cheap digs, as I suspect most of the "hip" crowd has been doing over the past 15 years. But to actually plunk down a million in that neighborhood? For cheap rent, it's tolerable. To permanently marry yourself to the L train and Transfer Hell for the rest of your life? No f'ing way.
take off the market for rental. after three months "predatory renters" low tall offers, they will move back to the selling market for 15% less.
indeed
I've been saying it for a while... LIC and WB are toast.
I agree. I think the appeal/hype only lasted during the bubble, and most of those developers missed the timing... I am worried about Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene, DUMBO, Jersey City, etc. as well--because the artificially inflated hype seems to have greatly leveled off, now that the properties in Manhattan have become more affortable.
I love Williamsburg.
I've been visiting every few months for the past 2 years and love it more and more.
We spent all of last Sunday checking out the condos, had lunch at Dumont Burger, wine break at The Flynig Cow and dinner at Dresslers. Then gourmet ice cream from an ice cream truck that sold out most of its flavors.
Sure, real estate may/will go thud. That's what I'm hoping so I can buy really cheap!
Different strokes for differnt folks.
I think as with any desirable area, the demand is there, but the pricing isn't just yet. LookPied, I hope you find a great deal!
