Discussion about 20 East 10th Street #HOUSE
Bulletproof glass! 6 washers and dryers! Multiple fridges with compressors in the basement! I love it. But no elevator for $20 million? In that price range, maybe they can hire a Sherpa to carry them up and down the stairs.
nice looking place. Would advise against using that great kitchen considering the small rooms and endless stairs. Very nice place. no comment on price b/c this is out of my area of expertise. My guess is this on belongs on the Defies rational thinking thread. Would be interested in hearing from the Townhouse aficionados.
If you live in a $20MM home, you aren't schlepping food from the kitchen to the dining table during dinner parties, so I see no prob with kitchen if I understand falcogold1 correctly. Place is pretty spectacular and location is A-1. I'd swap parlor and dining room, I think. As if it matters what I'd do. Although $20MM, it is at least 2.5x better than Madoff penthouse, so in those terms I guess it is a great price.
Okay, maybe I'm being a little bit of a snot, but I don't see how 5-zone HVAC in a 5-floor, 6,800-square-foot home merits that much prominence in the listing.
fabulous location, though.

And maybe you don't have kids, so the kitchen being away from everything is not a problem
When you gut renovate a 25' townhouse, how can you forget to add an elevator? I find it hard to believe anyone with $20 million to spend will do without one, no matter how many washers and dryers it has. Maybe you could open a laundromat in there, collect quarters, and save up for an elevator.
And there's room for it behind the stairs.
You contractor tells you the Viking stove is $7,000, it's an easy decision. he tells you is quarter million for the elevator, things change. The elevator probably would have cost 4 times the kitchen.
30yrs,
thanks for the prespective, well done.
