Requesting Clarification on SE take on comm1

Our position is that we are unhappy, frustrated and annoyed. Which is exactly what comm wants.

We have had to make many changes to our code to deal with him. We implemented the troll system, and we've identified the dozens of aliases he creates. We've marked them so his comments are hidden, and we disabled the accounts so they can't be used again.

Today we rolled out new changes which actually remove everything he has ever written. Hiding his comments was not enough because many of you have told us that you simply cannot look away. It's the new rubbernecking.

We continue to monitor the discussions and remove his garbage. We're rolling out some technical improvements to speed removal.

We are pursuing legal remedies, both civil and law enforcement. All threats are taken very seriously. We have been working on this for a long time, to suggest we are laissez-faire or otherwise not committed to fixing this is just silly. Some people may have drawn that conclusion because we have not detailed our efforts. It's not in our collective interest to detail our efforts and we will not say much more at this point. We will continue to work to reduce his impact.

Please keep in mind that comm is a troll. He is a troll like the many of who have come before him on other sites. He simply craves your attention. If you continue to give him attention, please don't bother to complain about him.

Streeteasy, I hope I speak for many SE users when I say that I really appreciate your efforts and think you've really created something wonderful. Fingers crossed that the troll can be evicted peacefully.

Agreed, but it's increasingly obvious that those who continually feed him are essentially trolls themselves as well.

SE: I would think that the case where a newspaper unveiled the anonymity of a judge because her comments on their blog was a biased reflection on her judgement on the bench, so too, could SE unveil the anonymity of an unstable member of the licensed real estate community on a real estate blog. This troll admits to being a real estate broker. The fact that he continues to stalk posters and unspool pages of vitriol on an otherwise informed and informative blog site would be an issue of concern for any of his clients. The man is clearly unbalanced and I would hope to never encounter him in a professional situation. I'm sure other professionals on this site would like him removed as an unsavory anomaly.
