Discussion about
Recently moved in. Spacious one bedroom. BRIGHT northeastern light in the morning with an open northeastern view. Blond wood floors. I thought I'd paint, but this just seems summery and I like it on a day like today.
You've been hitting the bong and you're happy!
no
So what color are you thinking about?
A rich blue or green. But now it seems too much. I like this.
Anyone else have a thought, besides the drug dude?

just gettin' some overhead fans and shelves!
Its all China White in the apartment!
Nice, brite and lit up . . . that summer breezy-ness goin' on! . . .
Its all the extras where ya' can splash the colors and add ya' style!
curtains, rugs, furniture, photography, the whole shebang!
If YOU like it, go for it and enjoy!
Ocean/Caribbean Blues and Green have their own special vibes . . . .
go lose ya' self pickin' JUST one from those color swatch paint charts with 165 types of blue and even more greens!
Paint the Ceiling? only?
Color it Jamaica brownish-green.
If you have any kind of moldings in your apartment, going from white to a light neutral will make the moldings stand out so much more. Try a pale buttercream and see how summery that feels. My significant other thought I was crazy as I was painting our prewar rental, but after the paint dried, told me I was a genius.
Now we're in a loft-style apartment. The idea of leaving the walls white, which I said I was going to do initially, lasted all of about one day. Going with a much bolder palette this time around.
nothing better than linen white (b. moore) in a bedroom. soft, cozy, romantic. other rooms --- well up to you.
must repaint when moving out -- only paint if you own -- otherwise a hassle unless you are staying for a while

see, you are ghetto. you smoke dope with your son, in your 2000 a month 2 bedroom rental. no wonder you aren't higher up on the economic ladder
Racist.
agree with apt 23. about to paint my master br linen white
If you are renting, you probably need to seek permission and may be required to return the walls to a white neutral color prior to moving out or risk losing your deposit. Walls painted in some unusual color scheme would be unrentable. White may be boring, but it is safe.
peptobismal pink.........sooths, coats, relieves
I'm all about the "warm" colours: rich chocolate brown in the foyer and back hallway, Bryant Gold in the living room, orange in the kitchen, and split pea in the bedroom. :)
In loft-style apartments, however, I'm a big proponent of the accent wall; mostly everything white (or a shade of white, not that stark super-white that should be reserved only for ceilings), with a nice bold green. Or sky blue. Or a nice brick red!
"classist"
nope..classless
Thanks, some interesting POVs. I have good windows and multiple exposures, plus all of the kitchen isn't white (stainless and marble). And the blond floor is nice synthetic hardwood floor planks, not parquet. Was nice on a weekend like this. Anyway, will be doing more decorating and putting up photos and paintings.
I like the idea of painting a wall or two strategically.
Benjamin Moore Silver Sage is a restful green that's cool in natural light and cozy in artificial light.
Also, if you have moldings, as lad mentioned above, no matter what color you choose, paint them one or two tones up the chip (darker)-- they will look the same color as the wall, but just be a little more prominent.
The OP didn't say this was a rental. Is it?
I think better rental buildings allow painting, but I've known ones that require deposits and ones that charge a painting fee (plus you pay for the painting). I suppose that rent control buildings since there's nothing in the lease on it you can paint if you want too.
O bviously if you own you can do what you want painting wise.
lofty - interesting advice. Most people look to paint moldings lighter than walls - we did the opposite - darker - works very well.
