Only John Stewart can figure out that Soda is twice as illegal as Pot.

Very funny. I was actually surprised that the amount being de-criminalized is one ounce.

One ounce! I seem to recall from my youth, as John Stewart notes, that that is a lot of weed!

John Stewart prevailed.

Its simply crazy limiting soda which harms no one but yourself, marijuana your not just harming yourself, but giving others a contact high and poluting the air! But thats our politicians

Absurd law. If one believes the gov't has no place in the bedroom, then it has no place in the kitchen either.

I read yesterday that he's hired some PR flacks to "burnish his legacy." Good luck! And I hope we're not paying for them.

The first faulty idae (aside from the idea that only he knows how to do anything right) was that the City could be run like a corporation and that he was the CEO. From that has flowed the destruction of our school system and public housing system, gigantic giveaways to his developer friends and charter school exec friends, the insanity at the Board of Standards and Appeals, death and destruction as a result of lax enforcement and self-certification at DOB, thousands of high-priced consultants doing work that could have been done for a third of the cost by union workers if he wasn't bent on destroying the unions.... the list truly seems endless and the rot affects every city agency. It will cost a fortune to fix what he's broken in the past 12 years. I hope we elect someone with the will to fix everything. Most New Yorkers really have no idea what awaits them and how much money they will have to pay to undo the disaster. I do not think that Ms. Co-Dependent Enabler Quinn is the one who will do it.

Fine. I'LL do it.

I hereby declare my candidacy for Mayor of New York City.

I'd like to add Bloomberg's expensive payroll changes to the list of "consultants gone wrong".

The DOE went paperless for pay checks, giving employees access to their equivalent pay stubs online. HOWEVER, the day after you retire, the cancel your access to pay stubs. Then they make you wait up to 3 months if you need a copy of a pay stub prior to retirement.

Retirement is not much better. They send you pay stubs with cryptic letter codes for deductions. Their online guide to the codes doesn't include most of the codes. Forget trying to call them on their hotline. They're clueless also.

I spent 25 years in the computer industry. Glaring problems like this would result in an instant dismissal.

aalsberg...I am not arguing the merits of this vs marijuana, but your comment is off base. Obesity cost taxpayers significantly more money than marijuana...and the concept high and polluting the air is pretty specious

"Forget trying to call them on their hotline. They're clueless also."

Have you ever tried to call DOITT when you have a problem? Or even get in touch with them online? Impossible! If you go to their website, there are no links or phone numbers listed to get a trouble fixed. One day, in desperation, I called their general phone number and asked for help. The receptionist said city employees call all day long for the same reason.

DOE is notorious for hiring $1000 a day IT consultants who live in Miami because the edict came down from above that they couldn't add DC 37 employees to the payroll.

Really, the list goes on forever.

>because the edict came down from above that they couldn't add DC 37 employees to the payroll.
