I think it will work out fine. We looked in the area but then went a little further north to Sutton Place where there are still a lot of bargains. Both areas are more affordable than downtown or some of the newer enclaves and have decent transportation and new restaurants opening often as well as Whole Foods coming soon. Be prepared to justify yourselves and your income/assets to a coop board as they are more comfortable working with currently employed families.
