Hi all, I am looking to do a kitchen reno on an apartment I am currently in contract for. One of the things I want to do is install a washer/dryer and a dishwasher. The Coop board has said that a licensed plumber would be needed, so the one contractor I saw when I was thinking about making an offer quoted me $5k for this. Is this the normal rate? He had said that it would be $400.00 vs 2k (unlicensed vs. licensed) when we first talked about it, so I was surprised to see a quote so high. From what I've seen online, it shouldn't cost that much. The washer/dryer will be be close to the bathroom plumbing and the dishwasher will be next to the kitchen plumbing.

Also, I asked the contractor to separate the labour cost from the products(tiles, paint, etc), and I never heard back from him. Isn't this how this is usually done? In any case, I won't be using him, but I want to know what I should look for when meeting with future potential contractors.
