new lottery was just announced in which a new waiting list for apartments at the Riverton Square Apartments in East Harlem will take place.

Located near the East River between 135th and 138th streets, this gated community consists of a complex of seven buildings with a total of 1,230 apartments, all of them 1-, 2-, or 3-bedroom units. Newly renovated, the apartments now boast sleek, modern kitchens with granite and stainless steel appliances and new bathrooms.

Eligible applicants must earn at 110 percent of the area median income, which ranges from $69,416 for a single person up to $121,730 for a 6-person household. See details below.

  • Elevators
  • Onsite laundry

Apply online through the NYC Housing Connect site. To request an application by mail, send a self-addressed envelope to: Riverton Apts, 93 4th Avenue, Box 780, New York, NY 10276. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than Jan. 2, 2018.

After the deadline, 7,500 applications will be submitted through a randomized lottery process for placement on a waiting list, according to city housing officials. As apartments become available, eligible applicants will be called for interviews and must bring supporting financial documents. The waiting list will be kept for two years before being re-established.
