As you can imagine, we at StreetEasy are pretty much obsessed with New York City real estate. We love it when others share our enthusiasm, which is why we are proud to share some exciting news. Our very own StreetEasy economist, Nancy Wu, has been named one of Crain’s New York’s “Rising Stars in Real Estate” for 2020.
This recognition is meant to “highlight the true drivers of New York’s real estate engine—those individuals whose grit and ingenuity power the region’s progress and the industry’s growth.”
Frequently cited in local and national publications such as the New York Times, Bloomberg, and Crain’s itself, Nancy uses data science and cutting-edge research methods to bring transparency to the city’s real estate industry. For example, she recently developed a new housing metric, the “StreetEasy Rent Score,” which shows the relative expensiveness of different rental buildings across Manhattan. The tool quantifies how much prices can vary within one neighborhood, helping renters find options they can afford in what may otherwise be considered an unaffordable area.

Nancy also spearheads the work on StreetEasy’s widely cited monthly housing market reports, which are consistently cited or shared by local and national press outlets.
We’re thrilled to see Nancy recognized for her work to empower New Yorkers to make informed real estate decisions through data and research. Follow her on Twitter for more housing news, and please join us in congratulating her!
