Update, March 5, 2020: Sold! Songstress Norah Jones is now in contract on the sale of her Cobble Hill townhouse, complete with a lovely heated pool and hot tub in the private backyard. The Amity Street home, which was listed in November of 2019 for $8 million, has found a buyer. No word yet on the final sale price, but given that Jones paid less than $5 million for it back in 2009, she stands to make a quite a splashy profit.
Norah Jones has just listed her Cobble Hill townhouse for $8 million. The Grammy-winning musician purchased the property in 2009 for $4.995 million.
Back in 2009, when singer-songwriter Norah Jones scooped up a four-story townhouse on a quiet tree-lined block in Cobble Hill, she was among the first major celebrities to settle down in Brooklyn. Ten years later, the Grammy winner is selling the 5-bedroom property for $8 million.
In that time, Jones has released four albums, launched three international tours and had two kids. Brooklyn has changed a lot during those 10 years, too: Cobble Hill is now one the city’s most expensive neighborhoods and dozens of A-listers live in the borough.
Jones’s stunning Amity Street townhouse is in the heart of celeb-dense Northwest Brooklyn. Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz own a brownstone nearby in Cobble Hill. Ethan Hawke has a townhouse just on the other side of Court Street in Boerum Hill. And just a couple of blocks north in Brooklyn Heights, Matt Damon recently bought a $16.95M penthouse.
Peek Inside Norah Jones’s Townhouse
While many celebs own in the borough, it’s hard to say how many really live there full-time. Not so with Jones — this property feels like home. The artist’s signature eclectic style fills every last inch of the 4,500-square-foot space. Take a whirl through the photo gallery below to get a sense of her cool Marrakesh bazaar–meets–Vermont barn aesthetic.
In the kitchen, exposed brick and beams set a cozy backdrop for the reclaimed-wood pantry and custom teak island. An expansive breakfast room opens up onto the backyard. Massive by even Brownstone Brooklyn standards, the garden features a bluestone patio, a hot tub and a heated lap pool — Jones is a big swimmer.
Upstairs, formal living and dining rooms give way to a casual entertaining area at the back of the house. Here, a collection of Moroccan glass and brass lanterns hang from the ceiling and a wall of windows overlooks the backyard below. With exposed brick and a cocktail bar made from reclaimed wood, the space would be the perfect mise-en-scène for a soft-jazz jam session.

Up another level is the master suite, complete with a 300-square-foot terrace. While the cedar walk-in closet and black marble fireplace are lovely, the master bathroom is the real show stopper: Turquoise Italian tiles pair with a royal blue fireplace mantel. There’s a standing steam shower, ideal for recovery after a pool workout, and if that doesn’t suffice, the oversized Waterworks tub should do the trick.

Although Jones is leaving this townhouse, she likely won’t be going far. In addition to this property she owns another house in the neighborhood, a carriage house that was featured in Eat, Pray, Love.
