There’s a reason the West Village is featured so extensively in pop culture, from Friends to Sex and the City. The neighborhood is picture-perfect, full of charming architecture and historic properties. Although prices in the neighborhood frequently soar past $2 million, there are still some great deals to be found in the six-figure range, like 32 Jones St. #5D. Our Deal of the Week is a studio in the West Village complete with a custom Murphy bed and closet system, a gorgeous kitchen, and modern amenities.

Why You’ll Love It…

Boasting high ceilings and six windows facing east, south, and west, this corner unit is sure to be get great light throughout the day, in addition to offering views of the Empire State Building and Freedom Tower. You’ll find bamboo flooring throughout, including in the kitchen, which is open to the rest of the living area but not in the living area (in other words, you won’t be sleeping next to your stove). The kitchen features a breakfast bar for two, ample cabinetry, and the piece de resistance: a dishwasher.

The living area is anchored by a custom Murphy bed and Elfa closet system, which allows the buyer to maximize both their living space and storage space. There’s also a traditional closet located next to the windowed bathroom.

When you live in New York, though, what’s outside the apartment is just as important as what’s in it. The unit is located in a pet-friendly co-op that permits pied-à-terres and gifting, as well as unlimited subletting after two years of ownership. To top it all off, the unit is available to purchase furnished, so you can truly move right in.

Situated on the corner of Jones and Bleecker, the building is just 500 feet from the A, C, E, B, D, F, and M trains. The 1 and PATH trains are nearby as well. Buyers will never have a shortage of restaurants to check out, like Buvette Gastrotheque, John’s of Bleecker Street, Jajaja Mexicana, and Jack’s Wife Freda. The IFC Center, Comedy Cellar, and Washington Square Park are also located within a few blocks.

…And Why You Might Not

Unfortunately, this unit does have its drawbacks. First of all, it appears there’s only an under-the-counter fridge and freezer in the kitchen, and the apartment is on the fifth floor of a walk-up building. Lastly, it doesn’t seem that the building has laundry facilities, but there is a laundromat one block down on Cornelia Street.

Still, if you’re looking for a studio in the heart of the West Village for under $600K, this one is definitely worth checking out!
