I was shocked to hear this. The rating agencies that helped cause this mess are worried that if being liable for negligence or worse would deter competition? YOu can't make this stuff up. At the hearing, U.S. Representative Paul Kanjorski said he%u2019s open to revising a bill that would increase liability for credit-rating companies after the industry complained the measure would deter competition.
