This building was emergency vacated on March 27 due to structural problems. While the vacate order was lifted in late April, the landlords' handling of the issue was atrocious. Landlords' continued to lie about how long the process would take and refused to offer any compensation for damages to the tenants. The building shakes, there is serious water damage on top floor, there have been major problems with rats in the building, and problems with maintaining heat throughout the winter. Landlords Donald Matheson and Uche Alozie are, in a word, slumlords. Do not rent from them. You can see all the violations leading up to vacate order on the DOB's website. Violations begin in 2009, complaints about the building shaking go back to 2001.
